Macro photography

Sunday August 29, 2010

When my brother decided to throw away his old computer, he remembered there were still some components he wanted to keep. While taking the machine apart, he stumbled upon the Central Processing Unit (CPU). We decided it would make an excellent subject for macro photography. After spending an afternoon behind my camera I can confirm that it's a very nice subject.

All the rows of tiny shiny spikes look very different when enlarged like this. I used my zoom lens with some extension tubes first, followed by my wide angle lens with extension tubes. The last combination was extremely hard to focus. The spikes were about 1mm away from the front glass of the lens. I would've liked to be able to use more wide angle, but the lens just wouldn't focus.
